We are seeking an experienced System Administrator who is responsible for guiding and maintaining the technological estate of Ecctis. Reporting to the IT Director, you will ensure the optimal performance of systems, and select, implement, and support the most effective solutions. The role demands a deep understanding of current technology trends, the ability to foresee technological evolution, and an ability to adapt to future requirements. The role will contribute to achieving the company’s corporate vision by ensuring the technological infrastructure aligns with both current and future business needs.

Key responsibilities:
  • Information Management
  • System Maintenance and Optimisation: Maintain and optimize the performance of existing systems, ensuring they meet business needs and are scalable for future growth. Regularly evaluate the system for potential improvements in efficiency, security, and reliability.
  • Support and Troubleshooting: Provide effective, timely IT support to internal teams, external clients, and stakeholders. Troubleshoot issues proactively and ensure minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Implement and enforce robust security policies to mitigate risks and ensure that the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of IT systems are maintained. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO/IEC 27001, Cyber Essentials+) and best practices.
  • Incident Management and Alerts: Ensure proactive management of planned and unplanned outages. Provide timely updates to the IT Director, Senior Leadership, and all relevant teams about any system disruptions, vulnerabilities, or security threats.
  • Technological Evolution: Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and cloud services. Recommend and drive technological upgrades and innovations to keep the systems future-proof.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation for systems, procedures, and network configurations. Regularly review and update disaster recovery plans and system performance reports.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., development, operations) to ensure seamless integration and optimization of IT solutions. Offer expert advice on system improvements and new technology implementations.
  • Training and Development: Participate in continuous professional development to maintain expertise in relevant technologies.
Essential experience and skills:
  • Infrastructure Management: Experience in maintaining and optimising server environments, including both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructures.
  • Security Practices: Strong understanding of security protocols, including but not limited to firewalls, antivirus solutions, and vulnerability management.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Ensure comprehensive backup strategies are in place and regularly tested for disaster recovery scenarios.
  • System Performance: Proficiency in monitoring and enhancing system performance, including network traffic, disk usage, and server health.
  • Technical Support: Proficient in providing IT support, troubleshooting hardware/software issues, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Cloud Technologies: Experience with cloud platforms (Azure) and cloud-based solutions, particularly in managing virtual & serverless environments.
  • Automation and Scripting: Knowledge of automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline repetitive tasks and improve system management.
Ideal Technical Expertise:
  • Operating Systems: Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Linux distributions, and Windows 11.
  • Networking: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls, and Wi-Fi networks.
  • Database Management: MS SQL Server.
  • Other: Active Directory or Entra ID.
