Location: Anywhere in the U.S. mainland, Eastern U.S. preferred. Must be able to travel to project sites.

ECC is seeking a Waste Manager with experience on Dept of Defense (DoD) sites, who will serve as the primary point of contact for all waste management regulatory matters and holds overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with waste management and disposal regulations.

In this position, you will:

  • Accurate identification and classification of regulated materials.
  • Preparation of shipping documents using language concurred with by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
  • Completion of all exception and discrepancy reports.
  • Identification and compliance with marking, labeling, packaging, and placarding requirements.
  • Preparation and submission of daily status tracking reports.
  • Coordination with USACE, USACE representatives, disposal facilities, and transportation agencies as applicable.
  • Preparation and submission of any other documents required by federal, state, and local laws and regulations, USACE, or disposal facilities.
  • Coordination of review and approval procedures for all manifests.

In addition to the accountabilities above, other responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables may be assigned to the incumbent of this position.

Requirements

  • Capability to identify all required permits.
  • Comply with Federal, state, and local laws and regulations which are applicable.
  • Specialized training in Hazardous Materials Transportation includes 49 CFR 172, Subpart H, and IATA DGR.
  • Requirements for U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) certification, a current certificate of registration issued by the Research and Special Programs Administration (RSPA), DOT, when required by 49 CFR 107, Subpart G.
  • Associated Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) registrations/credentials such as CHMM.
  • 5 years of experience performing waste management activities associated with coordinating packaging, transport, and disposal of Low Level Radioactive Waste (LLRW), Mixed Waste (MW), and other wastes at Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) and other Department of Defense (DOD) sites.

Education: This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, construction management, health physics, geology, chemistry, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.

ECC targeted salary range for the US average is $120,000 to $130,000. Actual salary offered may be affected by education, training, certifications, experience, skills, level of responsibility and location.
