Description Location: Anywhere in the U.S. mainland. Eastern U.S. preferred. Working remotely with travel to project sites required. ECC is seeking an Associate Environmental Scientist (or Geologist / Engineer discipline) for office and field work with our Environmental group. Qualified candidates should have experience performing in-situ or ex-situ environmental systems design, scientific analysis, field engineering support, or quality control. You must be able and willing to travel to project sites as needed, ECC covers the cost of travel expenses. This office and field position is primarily responsible for helping plan, select, coordinate and implement scientific and engineering services to fully address the scope of work on environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects in accordance with Company standards, regulatory criteria, and contractual obligations. In this position, you will: Consult and collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and other team members to plan, coordinate, and ensure progress of deliverables within budget and schedule. Select and apply appropriate environmental technologies and cost-effective solutions to remediate or remove contaminants and meet project objectives. Plan, prepare, review, and issue project and field submittals including work plans, design documents, analytical reports, operation & maintenance reports, and closure reports. Apply industry standards of practice, regulatory codes, standards, and company SOPs. Identify, address, and communicate technical, operational, and business risks related to the project approach and technology. Author RFQs and assist in procurement and selection of subcontractors, consultants, and service providers. Report to the field to perform, observe, and inspect fieldwork. Review work of personnel, subcontractors, and consultants for compliance. Ensure testing is completed by qualified personnel with calibrated equipment. Evaluate, review, monitor, and document results, and help make necessary adjustments. Complete related documentation promptly and accurately. Investigate and recommend solutions to field changes, RFIs, and issues related to quality and technology. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. Requirements Effective written and verbal communication skills. Independent thinking and reasoning ability. Strong organizational skills and experience leading dispersed teams. Ability to review and inspect work for adherence to plans and specifications. Knowledge of scientific standards, regulatory codes, and environmental techniques. Ability to interpret client requirements, technical plans, and specifications. Experience engaging with subcontractors. Mentoring skills and industry awareness. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and Windows. Strong technical writing skills. At least three years of responsible experience in environmental systems design, analysis, or quality control on remediation or hazardous waste projects. Bachelor\’s degree in Life, Earth, or Natural Sciences, Environmental Management, or related field (or equivalent experience). Preferred Qualifications Master\’s degree in relevant fields. Environmental credentials (EIT, EPI, PE, PG). HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certification and 8 Hour Refresher. USACE Contractor Quality Management certification. Two years of field support experience. US Government contracting experience. Active membership in professional organizations. ECC\’s targeted base salary range is $70,000 to $90,000 annually.
