I’m working with a well-established, multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy looking to appoint a Senior or Associate Building Surveyor within their Building Surveying team. This is a great opportunity within a 12-strong Building Surveying team that includes four Partners. There is a clear and realistic progression pathway over the next 3–5 years, with the potential to move through to Associate and ultimately Partner level.
The Role
You will take a senior position delivering a broad mix of professional and project-led building surveying services, primarily for Local Authorities and Housing Associations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing complex projects up to £5m in value
- Full contract administration across the lifecycle of schemes
- Party Wall matters and defect analysis
- Pre-contract advice including procurement strategy and project setup
- Producing detailed specifications, schedules and contract documentation
- Administering JCT contracts including Intermediate and Minor Works
- Site inspections with responsibility for risk, compliance and H&S oversight
- Acting as Employer’s Agent where required
- Mentoring junior surveyors and supporting APC candidates
The workload is technically strong and varied, with a focus on social housing and public sector frameworks, alongside exposure to commercial, healthcare and education projects.
What I’m Looking For
- MRICS qualified in Building Surveying (or strong qualified by experience)
- Proven contract administration experience
- Experience managing complex projects up to £5m
- Strong report writing and client-facing capability
- Solid understanding of building construction and Party Wall etc. Act 1996
- Experience working under JCT forms of contract
- Experience with Local Authorities or Housing Associations is highly desirable
- Full UK driving licence
You must be confident taking ownership of projects, advising clients directly and contributing to the development of the wider team.
