The Senior Operational Risk Analyst plays a key role in strengthening the firm's Operational Risk Management Framework, supporting the identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of operational risks across the business. The role has a particular focus on Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) and Operational Resilience, ensuring that critical services, technology providers, and outsourcing arrangements are appropriately assessed, monitored, and controlled. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, compliance, and senior management to enhance the firm's risk culture, improve control frameworks, and support regulatory expectations relating to operational resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Operational Risk Management Framework across the organisation.
- Maintain and update the operational risk register, ensuring key risks, controls, and mitigation actions are accurately documented.
- Facilitate Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) across business units to identify and evaluate operational risks.
- Analyse operational risk events and incidents, perform root cause analysis, and track remediation actions.
- Monitor and report Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and support the development of new indicators aligned with emerging risks.
- Prepare operational risk reports for senior management and relevant governance committees.
- Support the development and execution of the firm’s Third-Party Risk Management framework.
- Conduct risk assessments and due diligence on critical suppliers, outsourcing providers, and technology vendors.
- Assess third-party service providers against operational, financial, regulatory, and cybersecurity risk criteria.
- Monitor ongoing vendor performance and risk exposure, including periodic reviews and risk re-assessments.
- Maintain the third-party risk register and ensure key third-party relationships are appropriately classified and monitored.
- Collaborate with procurement, IT, and compliance teams to ensure vendor relationships meet regulatory expectations.
- Support the firm’s Operational Resilience framework, including the identification and mapping of Important Business Services (IBS).
- Assist in mapping dependencies across people, processes, technology, facilities, and third parties.
- Support the identification of impact tolerances and contribute to resilience scenario testing.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of business continuity and resilience documentation.
- Support resilience testing exercises, scenario analysis, and lessons-learned reviews following disruptions.
- Prepare risk analysis and reports for risk committees and senior management.
- Support regulatory compliance relating to operational risk and resilience expectations.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of risk policies, procedures, and control frameworks.
- Promote risk awareness and support the embedding of a strong risk culture across the organisation.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, or Risk & Control functions within financial services.
- Strong knowledge of Operational Risk frameworks and governance structures.
- Experience supporting or managing Third-Party Risk Management / Vendor Risk frameworks.
- Understanding of Operational Resilience principles and regulatory expectations.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, RCSAs, and control evaluations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
- Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or Operational Risk qualifications.
- Experience within brokerage, trading, fintech, or capital markets environments.
- Knowledge of FCA operational resilience policy (Important Business Services, impact tolerances, mapping).
- Familiarity with outsourcing regulations and third-party governance requirements.
- Experience working with risk management systems, data analytics tools, or GRC platforms.
