About the Role

The Payment Specialist will own and oversee EC Markets' payments framework, payment service provider (PSP) relationships, and payment rails across all jurisdictions. This role is critical in ensuring that client payment flows are efficient, compliant, and aligned with onboarding, AML, and risk frameworks. Similar to the onboarding function, the role will focus on understanding regulatory and operational frameworks, identifying gaps, and strengthening controls across the payments lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Payments Strategy & Operations
  • Lead and manage all aspects of EC Markets' payments function, including deposits, withdrawals, settlements, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain a robust payments framework covering card schemes, bank transfers, alternative payment methods, and local rails.
  • Ensure payment flows are scalable, secure, and aligned with business growth plans.
  • PSP & Banking Relationships
    • Own relationships with PSPs, acquiring banks, and payment partners.
    • Lead PSP onboarding, due diligence, reviews, and ongoing performance monitoring.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for PSPs on operational, risk, and compliance matters.
    • Work closely with Onboarding, Compliance, Risk, and Finance teams to align payments with AML, KYC, sanctions, and regulatory requirements.
    • Apply onboarding-style frameworks to payments to identify control gaps, inefficiencies, or regulatory risk.
    • Support transaction monitoring, payment risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
    • Assist with regulatory queries, audits, and PSP due diligence requests.
  • Controls & Process Improvement
    • Develop, document, and maintain payment policies, procedures, and controls.
    • Identify weaknesses in payment processes and implement enhancements to strengthen governance and client protection.
    • Drive continuous improvement across payment workflows, reconciliation processes, and exception handling.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with Product and Technology teams on PSP integrations and payment enhancements.
    • Support Finance with reconciliation, settlement flows, and cash movement oversight.
    • Enable expansion into new markets by assessing payment feasibility, regulatory considerations, and PSP coverage.

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience in payments, PSP management, or payment operations within FCA-regulated financial services, fintech, FX, or brokerage environments.
    • Strong understanding of global payment rails, PSP ecosystems, and alternative payment methods.
    • Demonstrated experience working with AML, onboarding, and risk frameworks in a regulated setting.
    • Experience conducting PSP due diligence, onboarding, and ongoing oversight.
    • Strong operational mindset with the ability to identify gaps and strengthen control frameworks.
    • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

    Required Skills

    • Experience within FX, CFD, or capital markets businesses.
    • Exposure to multi-jurisdictional payment and regulatory environments.
    • Experience improving or scaling payment infrastructure in growing firms.
    • Understanding of client money considerations as they relate to payments and fund flows.
