EC Markets is strengthening its Dealing Desk structure to ensure consistent execution standards, robust risk oversight, and clear progression for high-performing dealers.
About the Role
The Dealer will take day-to-day responsibility for the execution, monitoring, and risk management of FX and CFD client activity, operating within defined risk, pricing, and governance frameworks. The role is designed to develop into a Senior Dealer position, with increased ownership of desk risk, hedging strategy, liquidity management, and regulatory engagement, and potential progression to Head of Dealing, subject to performance and business growth.
Responsibilities
- Dealing & Execution Ownership
- Execute FX and CFD trades across approved asset classes in line with best execution obligations under MiFID II.
- Monitor live client positions, margin utilisation, and execution quality in real time.
- Support and increasingly take ownership of A-Book / B-Book flow management in line with approved risk appetite.
- Conduct pricing checks, spread monitoring, and execution quality reviews to ensure fair client outcomes.
- Market Risk & Exposure Management
- Monitor market risk, client exposure, and desk P&L within approved limits.
- Escalate abnormal trading behaviour, market dislocations, or system issues in accordance with internal procedures.
- Assist in the design and execution of hedging strategies and liquidity management.
- Identify and escalate potential market abuse, suspicious trading patterns, or conduct risk indicators.
- Operational & Platform Oversight
- Ensure accurate trade booking, reconciliation, and end-of-day controls.
- Produce and review daily dealing and exposure reports.
- Liaise with Liquidity Providers, technology vendors, and internal stakeholders (IT, Risk, Operations).
- Support oversight of trading platforms, bridges, and OMS environments.
- Compliance, Conduct & Governance
- Operate in full compliance with FCA requirements, including:
- Best Execution
- Market Conduct
- Product Governance
- Client Categorisation
- Maintain clear audit trails, documentation, and evidence to support internal and external reviews.
- Support Compliance, Risk, and Audit functions with regulatory requests and investigations.
- Act in accordance with SM&CR conduct rules and EC Markets’ conduct risk framework.
- People, Development & Desk Maturity
- Contribute to a disciplined, professional dealing desk culture.
- Support training and development of junior dealers as appropriate.
- Drive continuous improvement in execution quality, risk controls, and desk processes.
Progression to Senior Dealer / Head of Dealing
Subject to performance, the role is expected to expand to include:
- Ownership of desk-level risk limits and hedging strategy
- Oversight of liquidity provider relationships and execution models
- Contribution to product governance and execution policy design
- Senior engagement with Compliance, Risk, and regulators where required
- Leadership of the Dealing function as the firm scales
Essential Requirements
- Experience in an FX, CFD, or brokerage dealing environment.
- Strong understanding of execution models, spreads, slippage, and liquidity.
- High numerical accuracy and ability to operate under pressure.
- Sound understanding of FCA conduct requirements and client outcomes.
- Eligible for FCA Certification under SM&CR (Certified Function).
Desirable
- 2–5 years’ experience in a trading, dealing, or brokerage environment
- Experience with MT4, trading bridges, OMS, and risk management systems.
- Understanding of A-Book / B-Book models and hedging mechanics.
- Experience working with Liquidity Providers and pricing feeds.
- SQL or advanced data analysis skills for execution and risk reporting.
