EC Drummond Group is a diverse and growing family run agricultural business, specialising in top fruit, soft fruit, arable and broiler chicken production based on the outskirts of Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire.
We are looking to recruit an Assistant Farm Manager to assist in the day-to-day management of a 150ha top fruit farm at Tillington, Herefordshire, growing dessert apples, cider apples and cherries. This is a hands-on role and you will be expected to undertake tasks with the team, with full and ongoing training provided.
General RoleTo be a working Assistant Farm Manager in the orchards with a small team to provide an efficient and safe working environment for employees and their activities by using best business practices to manage resources, services, and processes to meet the needs of the organisation.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities- Throughout the season, work with the Head of Production and Agronomists to develop, monitor, achieve and report KPIs for all growing and farm standards.
- Work with the Head of Production and Harvest Manager to implement and supervise the annual Harvest plan.
- Work with all team members to ensure that tasks are completed on time and to agreed standards and that farm operations achieve all productivity and budgeted cost targets.
- Monitor staff and skill levels for the work required, highlighting concerns to the Head of Production and HR Manager.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and industry codes.
- Must have a positive can-do attitude and be flexible enough to adapt to the work environment.
- Experience in motivating people or have a desire for this to be part of your job.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace.
- Good understanding of IT.
Salary will be competitive and discussed at interview along with any other terms and conditions. A healthcare package will be provided, and a newly refurbished house can be made available. NEST Pension and 31 days holiday per annum.
