A service-led role covering fire alarm systems, smoke ventilation (AOV), and emergency lighting. Working independently diagnosing faults correctly and carrying out remedial works to a high standard across commercial and residential sites.
3 years + experience in the fire safety industry is essential, with a proven background in service, maintenance, fault-finding, and remedial works. Suitable for a candidate with strong working knowledge of BS 5839-1, BS 5266-1, and BS 5306, and experience with major manufacturers such as Kentec, Advanced, Morley, and C-TEC, as well as Wireless fire alarm systems experience (EMS, Hyfire, EDA, Apollo).
Key Responsibilities- Fire Alarm Systems
- Service, maintain, fault-find, and repair addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive call-outs
- Accurately diagnose faults and implement permanent corrective solutions
- Carry out remedial works including device replacement, minor system modifications, and repairs
- Complete clear, professional digital reports
- Participate in a shared on-call rota
- Inspect, test, and maintain AOV and smoke ventilation systems
- Test actuators, detectors, fireman’s switches, interfaces, and control panels
- Identify faults and carry out or recommend remedial works
- Carry out monthly and annual testing in accordance with BS 5266-1
- Identify failures and carry out remedial works including battery and luminaire replacement
- Ensure accurate digital test records are maintained
- Service and maintain portable fire extinguishers to BS 5306
- Advise clients on correct extinguisher provision and placement (Training can be provided if required)
- Work alongside the installation team on larger fire alarm and life safety projects where required
- Assist with system upgrades, commissioning, and final testing
