We are looking for a Client Portfolio Manager in our Madrid Office, with proven dealing, trading and account management experience. The successful candidate will help to develop, expand and manage the Institutional client base, taking responsibility for trading account set up, relationship management and deal execution.

Our CPMs offer expert and bespoke suggestions and ideas to our clients, providing them with strategies to minimise their FX risk challenges. They plan, structure and execute deals, giving our clients the best value while contributing to Ebury’s growth.

Our best CPMs go on to head up and train teams, making sure the next generation are inspired, motivated and proficient in their roles. This is a 360-degree role requiring proven dealing and FX trading expertise, exceptional sales acumen, and a passion for both acquiring new clients and nurturing existing relationships.

What you’ll do as a Client Portfolio Manager:

  • Drive New Business Acquisition: Proactively identify, engage, and onboard new institutional clients through independent research, strategic outreach, and networking. Originate new business by leveraging existing client relationships for referrals.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients and the fund eco-system (investment managers, corporate service providers and fund administrators), understanding their investment objectives, risk appetite, and FX requirements.
  • Manage a portfolio of institutional clients, executing a range of different products, including FX hedging, lending, payments and cash management. You’ll upsell Ebury’s broad product capabilities, ensuring a best-in-class client proposition.
  • Know and understand the competition's capabilities and gaps to better position Ebury’s Banking solutions.
  • Deliver on specific KPIs, including repeat and new business revenues, reducing client churn, upselling cross-selling multiple relevant products and increasing wallet-share.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships through client meetings, confidently and professionally presenting ideas, proposals, and updates to clients.

What you’ll need:

  • Strong Financial Services experience in a sales or relationship management role. An established network of contacts is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience of working in an established FX institution and/or commercial bank, or selling other financial instruments to institutional clients.
  • Solid understanding of relevant compliance requirements.
  • Academic background in Business or Finance is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to win commitment and buy-in.
  • Sophisticated technical ability; statistical/fundamental analysis & risk management practices.
  • Proven record of identifying and pursuing new business opportunities (upselling, cross-selling, new client acquisition).
  • Skilled negotiator, able to build and leverage relationships at senior levels.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is mandatory.
  • Experience in selling FX products to institutional clients (mandatory).
