We are looking for an agile and flexible fitter who can maintain, repair, inspect, and manage company plant and equipment, ensuring maximum operational availability, safety, legal compliance, and efficient support of business operations.

What we need from you…

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and servicing schedules for company plant and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults on construction and marine plant.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and undertake repairs either in the workshop or on-site.
  • Maintain generators, excavators, trailers, small plant and associated equipment.
  • Inspect, service and maintain portable power tools and lifting accessories.
  • Complete pre-use inspections, safety checks and pre-delivery inspections for equipment.
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports and maintenance logs.
  • Manage workshop consumables, lubricants and spare parts inventory.
  • Maintain the plant and equipment stores, ensuring stock control and efficient ordering of parts and consumables.
  • Ensure COSHH substances are correctly stored and managed, including spill prevention and environmental compliance.
  • Assist with fabrication, welding repairs and modifications to plant and equipment where required.
  • Liaise with suppliers and external service providers when specialist repairs or parts are required.
  • Ensure all equipment complies with PUWER, LOLER and relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Support operational teams with equipment selection, mobilisation and technical advice.
  • Recommend improvement actions to the Director of Operations that will benefit the global operations department.

It is essential that you have…

  • 2 years previous relevant experience
  • NVQ Level 3 in Construction Plant or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent
  • PUWER Inspection or Assessor qualification.
  • CSCS Driving Licence

It would be desirable if you have...

  • First Aid at Work
  • Forklift training
  • Store / Workshop management

What we will offer you… This is a full‑time, permanent position with 28 days annual leave, pro rata (inc. Bank Holidays). Although this role is based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, on occasion you will be required to travel nationally to our operational sites to undertake repairs and maintenance at short notice.
