Overview
As Managing Director, Communications, you steer the Bank’s external and internal communications to elevate visibility, reputation, and alignment with strategic priorities. You work closely with senior management and ExCom, shaping how the Bank communicates during crises and opportunities across regions. You will lead a sizable department, driving innovation, digital engagement, and governance aligned with the Bank’s mission and workplace behaviours. This is a high-impact role at the heart of strategic decision-making and public trust.

Responsibilities
- Advise the President and ExCom on positioning, reputation, and communications strategy
- Lead development and delivery of the Bank’s communications across media, stakeholders, and internal audiences
- Oversee the Communications Department, ensuring cohesive messaging and high-quality services
- Guide crisis and reputational risk responses with senior leadership
- Build and maintain relationships with Board members, ministers, and key stakeholders
- Act as senior spokesperson reflecting strategic direction and objectives
- Contribute to Bank strategy as an observer in the Executive Committee
- Lead the evolution of the Department with transformation and adoption of new practices and AI-enabled capabilities
- Set strategic objectives, manage resources and budget for communications activities
- Inspire and develop a diverse team while promoting workplace behaviours and integrity
Key requirements
- Extensive experience in corporate/government communications and media
- Strong political acumen and judgement in sensitive environments
- Proven ability to develop strategic, forward-looking communications plans
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder relationship management
- Ability to operate at high level with ministers from shareholder countries
