Reports To: Group Director of Financial Control The Role
The role will be responsible for managing the Group’s Tax compliance and planning. This will require direct oversight of these matters for the UK and Ireland and oversight and direction of external advisers in the UK, Ireland and other jurisdictions. The role will involve identification and management of tax risks across income, capital, employment and indirect taxes as well as input to Group tax accounting (including deferred tax asset recognition). Key Responsibilities
UK and Ireland Tax Compliance
· Establish processes for timely and accurate filing of all computations and returns and oversight of settlement of the resulting liabilities.
· Lead the Group’s relationship with HMRC either directly or via external advisers as necessary. Oversight and management of any audits and inspections.
· Ensure that Group P&L and Cash Forecasts have reliable tax provision, effective tax rate and payment assumptions.
· Partner with the Group People function on all matters related to employment taxes for UK & Ireland. This should include IR35 compliance, as well as review and settlement of PAYE Settlement Agreements.
· Monitor legislative changes in the UK & Ireland which may impact the Group’s tax positions.
· Responsibility for the development and maintenance of Making Tax Digital.
Global Tax Oversight
· Direct and manage the Group’s tax advisers in all jurisdictions, ensuring optimal procurement of such services.
· Management of the tax aspects of the Group’s external audit, collaborating with Group finance on accounting matters and judgements and reviewing all tax disclosures in the Group’s externally reported results.
· Develop the Group’s tax strategy and identify planning opportunities.
· Work with the Group Treasury Manager to streamline intercompany balances to mitigate the level of imputed interest on which the Group is taxed.
· Oversee and direct the Group’s Transfer Pricing Strategy and its implementation.
· Provide tax input to M&A activities across the Group.
· Partner with the international People leads on employment tax matters and regulatory compliance, bringing in advisers as necessary.
· Manage the Group’s exposure to withholding taxes and oversee recoveries where available
· Maintain the Group Tax Risk Register.
· Undertake special projects as required.

· UK Chartered Accountant and/or Chartered Tax Adviser (or equivalent).
· Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in group tax roles with a track record of increased responsibilities.
· Understanding of employment tax matters.
· Finance systems and tools skills are required.
· Ideally bringing some muti-jurisdictional experience.
