About the Team: The Connected products team works within Fashion at eBay between Manchester and Milan. They look at ways in which products people buy can be connected to a digital layer to provide authenticity and closer connection to brands. A Staff/Senior Product Designer is sought to join the team in Manchester.
What You’ll Be Working On: You will be a key member of the design team working collaboratively with engineers, product people and other designers. Our team is largely self-organising, so you’ll be keen on participating in a range of activities and workshops. You will play a key role in understanding user experience challenges and take an empathetic and collaborative approach to problem solving. Your work will focus on helping shoppers trust their product is authentic and high quality. You’ll be keen to help build and guide our teams with a user‑centric approach to design and build. You’ll be comfortable managing your time and ensuring experiences stay in sync with design systems and final outputs.
Things we look for in you:
- Good experience of working as a product designer, solving B2B or B2C user problems.
- Strong experience of collaborating within squads and teams, understanding how to thrive in a cross‑functional environment.
- Equally comfortable designing elegant interactions and interfaces, whilst keeping an eye on the overall user experience.
- Very comfortable talking to users. You’re not a researcher but you won’t be afraid to work with the team to plan and conduct user research.
- Excellent communication skills and experience of storytelling to bring your insights to life.
- Experience of producing visual artefacts to build shared understanding of user problems, such as user experience maps, prototypes, flows and service‑design blueprints.
- Experience of planning and facilitating workshops, playing back output in a way which brings everyone on the journey.
- You understand that perfect is the enemy of good and will have experience focusing on solving specific problems with an MVP approach and a blend of high and low‑fi techniques.
- Large organisation experience is desirable.
- Experience of ecommerce and fashion is desirable.
- Experience of Figma is essential.
- Experience or curiosity about taking a lead role and mentoring younger designers is desirable.
