Join eBay’s Financial Services group to direct our worldwide Credit & Insurance business line, providing financing and protection options for eBay buyers and sellers. You will be responsible for the strategy, P&L, and delivery for embedded seller financing, BNPL, buyer credit, and protection/insurance products. Partner with external collaborators and internal teams to boost conversion, trust, and revenue across markets. This is a senior, highly cross-functional role located in Europe with a worldwide reach. You will work closely with Product & Tech, Risk, Legal/Compliance, Analytics, Marketing, and regional groups in the US, Europe, AU, and other key markets.
What you will accomplish...
- Lead Credit & Insurance as a business line: define the multi-year strategy and roadmap for seller financing products, BNPL/buyer credit, and protection/insurance; hold responsibility for revenue, margin, and portfolio health goals across the globe.
- Guide worldwide performance and market entry initiatives by setting objectives and processes (WBR/MBR) throughout the US, EU, AU, and additional areas. Work closely with regional Sales, Marketing, and BU teams to boost adoption and attach rates for sellers and buyers.
- Build end-to-end journeys by collaborating with Product, Development, and Engineering to integrate financing and protection into main buyer and seller flows. These include targeting, application, decisioning, servicing, and claims. Continuously improve conversion, average order value, and repeat usage.
- Own partner strategy and governance by managing a portfolio of global and regional partners (BNPL providers, lenders, banks, insurers). This includes sourcing, commercial negotiation, risk-sharing, and quarterly business reviews with clear performance and paths for handling critical issues.
- Balance growth, risk, and regulation: coordinate with Risk, Legal/Compliance, and Analytics to refine approval and loss rates, assess portfolio performance, and confirm programs follow US, UK, EU, and AU regulatory and conduct standards for credit and insurance.
What you will bring...
- Experience includes: 12–15+ years in credit, fintech, embedded lending, or large-scale retail/e-commerce. Have managed a global $1B+ portfolio in credit originations. At least 5 years must be at Director or GM level with responsibility for P&L or substantial revenue. The candidate should be based in Europe and have shown leadership across several regions, including the US, EU, or Australia.
- Practical leadership experience in at least two areas is required: marketplace knowledge with insight into how financing and insurance support the ecosystem flywheel; seller or merchant financing such as MCA, revenue-based finance, term loans, or LOC; consumer BNPL or buyer credit options like pay-in-X, invoice, and revolving or store cards; and embedded protection or insurance for buyers and sellers during online transactions.
- Innovation driven: having experience with analyzing, developing, or collaborating on decentralized finance (DeFi) and blockchain financial solutions (like on-chain credit, tokenized assets, or smart-contract lending/insurance) is an important plus. You will need to turn this expertise into actionable strategies for product, partnership, and risk areas at eBay Financial Services.
- Business line leadership: Demonstrated ability to oversee a multiproduct portfolio including strategy, roadmap, economics, and implementation. Strong product and UX skills working with Product and Tech to develop and improve customer journeys at scale.
- Risk and regulatory expertise: Understanding of SME and consumer credit risk, covering underwriting, pricing, and line management. Practical awareness of EU, UK, US, and AU regulations affecting online credit and insurance. Experience applying these via partners and compliant marketing and product development.
- Partnership management: demonstrated success negotiating and managing complex lending, BNPL, and insurance partnerships. Led through a global matrix of regional leaders and cross-functional teams. Communicated clearly with senior executives using data.
