Purpose of the Job
The IT Engineer is an experienced level position involved in the planning, execution, and management of new applications into existing systems and software throughout the enterprise. This position is designed to provide the IT infrastructure required to run application software to support the computational and information needs of the company. The successful candidate will act as the first point of contact for all IT helpdesk queries, resolving issues directly or escalating them to senior engineers as required. Overall, the role ensures that technical operations run smoothly and hardware and operating systems are expertly maintained.

Specific Job Responsibilities/Competencies
As an IT Engineer, this role encompasses daily helpdesk operations, long-term strategic IT planning, and system deployments. The engineer will ensure that technology integrations meet compliance and functional specifications while driving continuous improvement in system performance. The primary responsibilities of this role include the following:

  • Evaluate system hardware and OS.
  • Monitor systems to track operating efficiency and to ensure service level objectives are met.
  • Liaise with other software developers and engineers to address issues in program logic, as well as the interoperability of new applications with existing systems software.
  • Work with data owners and business systems analysts to develop models, procedures, and protocols for reporting in concert with requirements.
  • Test software and communicate and document results and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Develop standards and processes to support and facilitate integration projects and initiatives.
  • Adhere to change management and documentation standards.
  • Respond to, track, and monitor inquiries and requests for assistance with software, hardware, and other technical problems.
  • Travel as per business needs.

Background and Experience

  • Technical Core Knowledge: Possess a thorough understanding of internal computer operating systems, networking, programming, and analytical methods.
  • Diagnostic & Repair Expertise: Demonstrate expert capabilities in diagnosing and repairing technical issues.
  • Independent OS Configuration: Ability to install and configure operating systems effectively with limited supervision.
  • Customer Satisfaction & Passion: Show a high sensitivity to customer needs and a deep, genuine interest in the broader field of Information Technology.
  • Project Management: Maintain a solid working knowledge of project management processes.

Education Requirement: A Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field. (Specifically, Computer or Information Science, Mathematics, or Engineering).

Minimum Experience: 3 years’ experience in IT.

Preferred Experience:
Intune experience
Google Workspace (GWS) experience

Base Location & Work Schedule: This is a full time permanent position based in Basingstoke, UK on hybrid working basis.
