A well-established construction business on the outskirts of Glasgow is looking to add an experienced CAD Technician to support live projects with high-quality, construction-ready drawings. This role is ideal for someone who takes real pride in producing clear, accurate, buildable information and enjoys working closely with design, engineering and site teams.
The role
- Youll be responsible for creating and maintaining coordinated drawing packages from tender stage through to completion, ensuring drawings reflect real-world site constraints, sequencing, and required standards.
- Youll work closely with a Design Manager and wider project teams to keep documentation accurate, up to date and issued correctly.
Key responsibilities
- Produce accurate construction issue drawings, details and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Manage drawing packages across the full project lifecycle (tender, coordination, revisions, as-built updates).
- Review and comment on structural steelwork drawings with a practical focus on buildability and coordination.
- Coordinate with design, engineering and site teams to resolve clashes and drawing queries (RFIs, redlines, revisions).
- Maintain drawing standards and ensure compliance with BIM processes and Common Data Environment (CDE) workflows.
- Attend coordination meetings and support clash detection / resolution where required.
What were looking for
- 5+ years experience in a construction draughting / CAD role.
- Strong, proven ability to produce construction-ready drawings (this is the main focus of the position).
- Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
- Good understanding of structural steelwork and how it interfaces with architectural and MEP elements.
- Familiarity with main contractor BIM protocols and CDE platforms (experience with any common platform is fine).
- Confident managing multiple drawing packages under deadlines with strong attention to detail.
- Solid knowledge of UK construction drawing conventions and relevant standards/regulations.
Desirable
- Large-scale commercial or infrastructure project experience.
- Understanding of tendering processes and construction sequencing.
- Proactive mindset and a high bar for quality.
