A well-established construction business on the outskirts of Glasgow is looking to add an experienced CAD Technician to support live projects with high-quality, construction-ready drawings. This role is ideal for someone who takes real pride in producing clear, accurate, buildable information and enjoys working closely with design, engineering and site teams.
The role
You will be responsible for creating and maintaining coordinated drawing packages from tender stage through to completion, ensuring drawings reflect real-world site constraints, sequencing, and required standards. You will work closely with a Design Manager and wider project teams to keep documentation accurate, up to date and issued correctly.
Key responsibilities
- Produce accurate construction issue drawings, details and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit
- Manage drawing packages across the full project lifecycle (tender, coordination, revisions, as-built updates)
- Review and comment on structural steelwork drawings with a practical focus on buildability and coordination
- Coordinate with design, engineering and site teams to resolve clashes and drawing queries (RFIs, redlines, revisions)
- Maintain drawing standards and ensure compliance with BIM processes and Common Data Environment (CDE) workflows
- Attend coordination meetings and support clash detection/resolution where required
What we’re looking for
- 5 years experience in a construction draughting/CAD role
- Strong, proven ability to produce construction-ready drawings (this is the main focus of the position)
- Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
- Good understanding of structural steelwork and how it interfaces with architectural and MEP elements
- Familiarity with main contractor BIM protocols and CDE platforms (experience with any common platform is fine)
- Confident managing multiple drawing packages under deadlines with strong attention to detail
- Solid knowledge of UK construction drawing conventions and relevant standards/regulations
Desirable
- Large-scale commercial or infrastructure project experience
- Understanding of tendering processes and construction sequencing
- Proactive mindset and a high bar for quality
Package
