An established and growing business based in West Lothian is looking to recruit a driven Business Development Manager to support continued growth across Scotland and the wider UK market. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded sales professional who enjoys building relationships, identifying new opportunities and developing long-term customer accounts.
The Role
- Generating new business, managing existing customer relationships and helping the business grow its client base across a range of sectors.
- Identifying and approaching new business opportunities.
- Building strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Managing the full sales process from initial contact through to close.
- Understanding customer requirements and presenting suitable solutions.
- Preparing quotes, proposals and pricing where required.
- Following up on enquiries, leads and lapsed customers.
- Working closely with the internal team to ensure a high level of service.
- Attending customer meetings, site visits and industry events where required.
- Maintaining accurate records of activity, pipeline and opportunities.
- Supporting the wider growth strategy of the business.
The Person
- Proactive, personable and commercially focused, with the confidence to develop new relationships and spot opportunities.
- Previous experience in business development, sales, account management or a similar commercial role.
- A strong track record of winning new business or growing customer accounts.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence speaking with business owners, managers and decision-makers.
- A proactive approach to prospecting and lead generation.
- Strong organisation and follow-up skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to understand the products and customer base.
- Experience within construction, trade, timber, landscaping, horticulture, agriculture, plant, machinery or similar sectors would be beneficial.
- A full UK driving licence.
