An established and growing business based in West Lothian is looking to recruit a driven Business Development Manager to support continued growth across Scotland and the wider UK market. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded sales professional who enjoys building relationships, identifying new opportunities and developing long-term customer accounts.

The Role

  • Generating new business, managing existing customer relationships and helping the business grow its client base across a range of sectors.
  • Identifying and approaching new business opportunities.
  • Building strong relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Managing the full sales process from initial contact through to close.
  • Understanding customer requirements and presenting suitable solutions.
  • Preparing quotes, proposals and pricing where required.
  • Following up on enquiries, leads and lapsed customers.
  • Working closely with the internal team to ensure a high level of service.
  • Attending customer meetings, site visits and industry events where required.
  • Maintaining accurate records of activity, pipeline and opportunities.
  • Supporting the wider growth strategy of the business.

The Person

  • Proactive, personable and commercially focused, with the confidence to develop new relationships and spot opportunities.
  • Previous experience in business development, sales, account management or a similar commercial role.
  • A strong track record of winning new business or growing customer accounts.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence speaking with business owners, managers and decision-makers.
  • A proactive approach to prospecting and lead generation.
  • Strong organisation and follow-up skills.
  • A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to understand the products and customer base.
  • Experience within construction, trade, timber, landscaping, horticulture, agriculture, plant, machinery or similar sectors would be beneficial.
  • A full UK driving licence.
