A reputable Managed Service provider based in Manchester with over 25 years of experience operating in the industry with a diverse range of clients across various sectors, including insurance, retail, gaming, and others, is seeking a 3rd Line Wintel Engineer to join their dynamic and growing team of 25 Wintel Engineers.

Essential Skills

  • Deployment of virtual Windows Servers within a VMware / Hyper‑V estate according to vendor best practice and to a given specification.
  • Installation and upgrade of ESXi on new or existing hardware from vendors including Dell & HP.
  • Proven ability to migrate to a VCSA from a Windows vCenter.
  • Referenceable track record configuring vCloud Director for new customers.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills where issues may occur while projects are in flight.
  • Ability to configure VMware NSX to be used with hyper‑visor level anti‑virus (e.g., McAfee Move, Kaspersky for Virtual Environments).
  • Prior experience setting up vSAN according to vendor best practice.
  • Understanding of virtual switching: configuring vSwitch & adding further labels to existing Distributed vSwitching.
  • Good understanding of VMware licensing and features.
  • Understanding and experience of SAN technologies, ability to present new LUNs.
  • Working knowledge of backup technology including Veeam Backup & Replication & Quest Rapid Recovery.
  • Experience with Zerto.
  • Ability to set up new customers within VMware Workspace One.

Desirable Skills

  • Working knowledge of backup technology including Veeam Backup & Replication & Quest Rapid Recovery.
  • Experience with Zerto.
  • Ability to set up new customers within VMware Workspace One.
  • Understanding and experience of SAN technologies, ability to present new LUNs.
  • Prior experience delivering VMware Horizon.
  • Experience installing SANs including NetApp, Dell EMC Storage Centre.
