What You’ll Do
- Lead and mentor a team of electrical test design engineers within the aerospace industry.
- Provide technical leadership for electrical test design (ATE) projects.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of electrical test systems.
- Ensure project delivery meets team, company and industry standards and requirements.
- Manage project timelines and coordinate with other departments.
- Develop and provide skilled resources to meet project objectives.
- Identify and address skill/resource gaps; develop and implement plans to close them.
- Resolve or escape issues within ATE projects.
- Collaborate with other functions to align engineering decisions with customer and project needs.
- Use data to drive performance, and team decisions.
- Act as a point of escalation and delegate effectively to reduce bottlenecks.
- Conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews to develop team members and drive engagement improvements.
- Apply aerospace engineering principles to solve complex problems.
- Design, develop, and document tests for electronic components and systems.
- Perform electrical test tasks, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Create and review technical documentation for electrical test activities.
- Deputise for the direct manager when absent.
Qualifications
- Engineering or science degree, or equivalent experience following an apprenticeship.
- Minimum 10 years within the engineering or manufacturing industries.
Skills
- A sound understanding of electrical systems.
- Proficient user of MS Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- Understanding of digital and analogue hardware (e.g. DMM, Oscilloscope, etc.).
- Electrical test hardware design experience.
- An understanding of requirements management, configuration management, and health & safety requirements applicable to office and laboratory environments.
- A working knowledge of Aerospace Industry requirements.
- Communication: Clearly and effectively conveying ideas, expectations, and feedback to team members and stakeholders.
- Leadership: Inspiring and motivating the team, setting a positive example, and guiding them towards achieving their goals.
- Problem‑Solving: Addressing challenges creatively and efficiently, making informed decisions to overcome obstacles.
