What You’ll Do
- Support customers with after-sales solutions by writing documents and guides that explain how to use products and services.
- Research products for evaluation, planning, development, and creation of all technical materials across multiple media formats.
- Conduct target audience analysis to determine the type of technical document required and the most suitable medium for hosting.
- Research, outline, write, and edit content, collaborating with various departments to understand project requirements.
- Gather information from subject-matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
- Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit content, and determine optimal solutions for data compilation and centralized storage.
- Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that adhere to organizational and legal standards, ensuring easy data migration.
- Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, maintaining a consistent voice across all documentation.
- Assess content for clarity, consistency, and conciseness to ensure it is accurate, easy to follow, and up to date.
- Revise, review, or modify documents prepared by others and maintain existing documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Communications, or a relevant technical field
- At least 2 years of proven experience as an effective technical writer within an engineering field
Skills
- Knowledge of life safety systems required
- Affiliation with ISTC or equivalent preferred
- Ability to demonstrate strong understanding of UL864+217 and EN-54 (minimum requirement)
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Consistent ethical mindset
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills; ability to coordinate effectively
- Excellent organizational skills; capable of multitasking and solving problems
- Solid understanding of SDLC (Systems Development Lifecycle)
- Good knowledge of computers and relevant software packages
- Ability to work well in a team environment and independently plan and execute work initiatives
- Strong organizational, planning, and project management abilities
