Manufacturing Engineer (12 months fixed term contract)

The core business of Bedhampton is assembly and test of hydraulic parts for motors and pumps on aeroplanes.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team on a 12 months fixed term contract.
What You’ll Do
We’re looking for a dynamic and driven Manufacturing Engineer to support our plant leadership in achieving operational excellence. This role drives continuous improvement, ensures product quality, and supports new product introductions across the organization.
- Lead and support manufacturing and quality engineering initiatives to meet business and financial goals.
- Act as a liaison between Manufacturing Cells, NPI teams, customers, and suppliers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects using APQP tools to meet internal and external requirements.
- Develop and maintain cost-efficient, Lean-based manufacturing processes.
- Apply statistical methods to reduce variation in products, processes, and personnel.
- Maintain and review PFMEAs, Control Plans, and SOPs.
- Monitor customer and productivity metrics; lead improvement teams and report progress to site leadership.
- Solve technical issues using structured problem-solving tools (8D, Six Sigma, A3).
- Support and improve Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Management Systems.
- Lead and participate in audits against Quality and EHS standards.
- Deliver training on products, processes, and quality/EHS systems.
- Assist in the specification, procurement, and validation of capital equipment and measurement tools.
Qualifications
- HND or Bachelor\\\’s Degree in a relevant subject such as Electrical Engineering
- Experience in high-precision manufacturing and engineering environments; aerospace experience would be a plus
- Proficiency in APQP tools: PFMEA, Control Plans, CTQs
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Expertise in root cause analysis and corrective action tools
- Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings and using measurement equipment

- Ability to lead and participate in cross-functional process improvement/problem solving teams
- Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team
