Our Luton site specialises in the manufacture of electrical products to control, operate and protect assets in harsh and hazardous environments and we are now looking for an experienced Manufacturing Test Engineer to support our growth and continuous innovation.
What You’ll Do
As the Manufacturing Test Engineer with strong expertise in testing and measurement systems you will design, develop, and optimise test solutions within our manufacturing environment. You will support both new equipment development and reverse‑engineering projects to improve reliability, repeatability, and long-term sustainability of existing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain NI‑based test systems (LabVIEW, TestStand) in a production environment.
- Design, implement, and coordinate automated test equipment (ATE) and fixtures for low- and high-volume manufacturing.
- Apply strong knowledge of analogue and digital electronic circuits to test system design.
- Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to define test requirements and strategies.
- Analyse test data to identify trends and drive improvements in safety and product quality.
- Create and maintain detailed test documentation according to company and regulatory standards.
- Provide hands‑on technical support to production teams and resolve test equipment issues.
- Extract, export, and analyse data using SQL/MySQL.
- Reverse engineer existing test systems to optimise performance and mitigate obsolescence risks.
- Prepare specifications and CapEx proposals for new equipment; liaise with external suppliers.
- Provide shopfloor support when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing test engineering (Proficiency with LabVIEW, TestStand, and NI hardware (PXI/PXIe, cRIO, cDAQ, USB 6000 series) is a must.
- Experience with other programming languages or software tools (C/C++, Python, etc.) desirable.
- Strong experience delivering automated test systems in manufacturing.
