What You'll Do
- As a Front End Application Engineer, you provide design assistance, value engineering, and product and segment specific application support to the Eaton MVPD (Medium Voltage Power Distribution) Projects, Orders and Quotation department, Sales Country Organizations, Key Account Managers, EPCs, Consulting engineers and Channel partners in the territory/market for electro‐technical installations.
- Provide necessary safety precautions and calculations during FEED, quotation and pre‐order stage, in accordance with company guidelines and procedures, to reach an acceptable solution for complex technical issues.
- The Application Engineer can act as lead engineer for larger and complex projects.
- Understand the overall Data centre value chain and translate the requirements into solutions based on Eaton MVPD product portfolio.
- Work on detailed designs focused on mentioned products and collaborate across different business units to stay in line with complete DC solutions.
- Determine, instruct and drive the technical quality and content of the quotation process.
- Read, interpret, and agree on customer specifications to create a competitive Eaton solution including mechanical, electrical, safety and control systems, SCADA and PLC software applications.
- Understand MV switchgear and Transformer Design requirements and support during tendering stage the different customer requirements.
- Work proactively with the teams to establish relationships with lead electrical consulting engineers, end users and design‐build contractors to promote the use of Eaton products.
- Develop pipeline through demand creation at influencers engaging on early designs on strategic DC accounts and framework agreements.
- Participate & understand current market requirements from customers to drive product technical features leading to future New Product Development.
- Lead technical evaluation, feasibility, clarification and execution of multiple projects in parallel while meeting requested return dates.
- Analyse electrical and/or mechanical faults by performing calculations and advise customers about possible technical solutions.
- Advise on third‐party or special equipment materials to provide technical competitive solutions to quotation engineers.
- Write technical RFQs for non‐Eaton items that are part of a project and drive SCM for technical compliant bids.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in data center domain / medium voltage power distribution.
Skills
- Architecture & Technical knowledge regarding MV switchgear and transformers as key focus.
- Experience in MV equipment installation & commissioning.
- Segment insights & Application, electrical and mechanical Engineering, Calculation, Studies and Manufacturing methods.
- Insights on Commercial aspects of Project.
- Strong skills to clearly present and convince the customer around technical solutions focused to MVPD products.
- Ability to work within an international, culturally diverse and matrix based organisation.
- Utilize AutoCAD and Revit tools effectively to support the design and technical documentation processes is a plus.
- Leadership attributes, Creative thinking, Customer centric approach, excellent communication.
- Ability to work with local and regional teams in a multicultural environment.
- Strong communication skills managing multiple resources with result‐oriented mindset.
