Eaton Syalon is partnering with an organisation in Derby that has achieved exceptional triple‑digit growth over the past 36 months. As the business continues to scale, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join their expanding finance team. This is an outstanding opportunity to gain broad exposure across financial accounting, reporting, accounts receivable, operational finance, and month‑end processes – all while receiving full study support and a clear pathway to becoming a fully qualified Accountant.
The Role
- Performing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate cash book postings within D365
- Supporting the preparation of VAT returns and national statistics reporting
- Assisting with maintaining the trial balance and updating supporting schedules
- Preparing and posting journals including accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset depreciation
- Producing and issuing sales invoices and credit notes
- Maintaining the sales ledger and ensuring customer account accuracy
- Sending customer statements and actively chasing overdue debt
- Providing weekly debtor cash updates and monitoring customer advances
- Supporting month‑end close processes including reconciliations and reporting
- Preparing monthly reports including Other Debtors, GRNI, and cost centre review packs
- Assisting with cost centre reviews through analysis preparation and participation in review meetings
- Producing daily operational reports such as Hours vs Budget
- Processing and reconciling inter‑company recharges on a monthly basis
- Ensuring inter‑company balances are accurately recorded and fully supported
- Providing payroll processing cover when required
- Assisting with year‑end activities and responding to audit requests
About You
- AAT qualified/studying or a Finance graduate
- Equipped with previous finance or accounts experience
- Comfortable working with Excel
- Organised with strong attention to detail
