We’ve been exclusively engaged by one of the East Midlands’ top employers, a high-performing PLC with a global footprint, to recruit a standout Head of Technical Finance. This is a unique opportunity to join a business at the forefront of innovation and operational excellence. You’ll play a critical leadership role within the Financial Control team, providing technical finance expertise across a complex and highly regulated division.
This is more than a reporting role. You’ll be a key partner to the Group, external auditors, and senior stakeholders, bringing confidence, clarity, and technical rigour to the integrity of financial statements, forecasts, and strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Lead external audit programme management across the division, partnering closely with External Audit Partner and Group Finance
- Prepare and present key audit issue papers to the divisional Audit Committee
- Provide authoritative insight on technical accounting treatments (IFRS) and policy interpretation
- Challenge the integrity and accuracy of financials through robust risk management
- Enforce governance frameworks to mitigate financial risk, fraud, and error
- Offer functional assurance on all major investments, bids, and contracts
- Direct and develop a team of two (Technical Finance Business Partner + Chief Accountant)
- Be a core member of the Financial Control Leadership Team, setting strategic direction and aligning teams
What we’re looking for:
- ACA/ACCA qualified with strong IFRS expertise, ideally from a Big 4 or audit background
- Excellent technical accounting knowledge including FX and complex transactions
- Proven experience working in or with PLC environments
- Outstanding communicator and influencer, able to distil complex topics into actionable insights
- A calm, credible leader who thrives under pressure and enjoys problem solving
- A track record of delivering to tight deadlines with commercial awareness
