Eaton Syalon are exclusively recruiting a Head of Quality for an established international business based in South Derbyshire.
The role is in the ideal location for candidates based in Swadlincote, Ashby de la Zouch , Burton on Trent and the surrounding areas.
This newly created position offers the opportunity to shape the quality function, lead an existing team and drive improvements across product quality, supplier performance and internal processes.
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will combine strategic leadership with a practical, hands on approach. You will have the autonomy to establish priorities, build strong relationships across the business and move quality from reactive problem solving towards prevention and continuous improvement.
The Role
- Develop and deliver the company’s quality strategy, standards and policies.
- Take ownership of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, maintaining certification and strengthening processes.
- Lead and develop the Quality team, creating clear accountability and supporting their development.
- Improve supplier performance through audits, inspections, performance reviews and corrective actions.
- Oversee product testing, safety, compliance and technical documentation.
- Lead root-cause investigations into defects, customer complaints and returns, implementing lasting solutions.
- Work closely with purchasing, supply chain, product development and operational teams to embed quality throughout the product lifecycle.
- Establish meaningful KPIs and report performance, risks and improvement priorities to senior management.
- Reduce quality-related costs while balancing commercial requirements and customer expectations.
- Visit suppliers as required, including some European travel.
About You
You will be an experienced Quality Manager, Senior Quality Manager or Head of Quality who enjoys taking ownership and making improvements happen.
You will bring:
- Senior quality management experience within manufacturing, sourcing, distribution or a product-based business.
- Proven experience managing an ISO 9001-certified QMS, including internal and external audits.
- Strong supplier quality assurance and supplier development experience.
- Experience overseeing product testing, safety and regulatory compliance.
- A track record of reducing defects, improving processes and resolving recurring quality issues.
- Strong leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
- The confidence to challenge constructively and influence colleagues and suppliers.
- A practical, organised and commercially aware approach.

The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to make a visible impact in a newly created role, with direct access to the Managing Director and the scope to shape how quality operates across the business.
The salary is £60,000–£64,000, depending on experience. This is a full-time, onsite position in South Derbyshire, with some supplier travel across Europe required.
