Eaton Syalon is delighted to have been retained to support a Derbyshire-based FTSE listed plc with a rare and exciting opportunity to recruit a high calibre Group FP&A Manager to join their head office finance function.

This is a newly created role offering significant exposure to the Group CFO, Executive Committee, and Board, placing you at the heart of strategic decision‑making within a dynamic and acquisitive international business.

You will lead the Group’s financial planning, forecasting, performance management, and decision support activities, while also acting as a trusted business partner across head office functions.

The Business

This FTSE‑listed plc is an established and growing international group operating across the UK, Ireland, and the United States. The organisation has a strong track record of strategic acquisitions and expansion, including multiple high‑value transactions in recent years and continued growth in the US market. As a result, this role offers exposure to complex group structures, integration activity, and high‑profile strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Group Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual Group budget, forecast, and planning cycles
  • Set and communicate Group‑wide planning assumptions
  • Ensure alignment between strategy, budgets, forecasts, and market guidance
  • Drive forecast accuracy, transparency, and robust challenge across divisions

Group Performance Reporting & Insight

  • Oversee monthly consolidation of Group results (Cognos)
  • Own the Group management reporting framework, including Board and ExCo packs
  • Deliver insightful analysis of actuals vs budget, forecast, and prior year
  • Identify key financial drivers, trends, and emerging risks

Board, Investor & Market Support

  • Support preparation of:
  • Board papers
  • Investor presentations
  • Capital Markets Day materials
  • Ensure consistency between internal reporting and external messaging
  • Partner with Investor Relations on KPIs, performance drivers, and forward‑looking narratives

Business Partnering

  • Lead business partnering for central head office cost functions
  • Act as a trusted advisor to functional leaders, providing financial insight to support strategic and operational decision‑making
  • Challenge cost base assumptions and identify opportunities for efficiency and value creation
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes for head office functions, ensuring alignment with Group objectives
  • Provide clear analysis and commentary on cost performance, highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Build strong relationships across finance and non‑finance stakeholders to drive accountability and performance
  • Develop scenario and sensitivity analysis (downside, stress, upside)
  • Assess impacts of macroeconomic and market changes
  • Support viability statements, going concern, and long‑term planning
  • Clearly communicate risks, mitigations, and actions to senior stakeholders

Systems, Data & Process Improvement

  • Own/sponsor Group FP&A systems (e.g. Cognos)
  • Evaluate tools such as Anaplan for future capability
  • Drive automation, standardisation, and continuous improvement
  • Improve data quality and reporting consistency (“single version of the truth”)
  • Enhance overall analytical capability

Leadership

  • Manage and develop a team of 2 direct reports
  • Oversee accounting for Group companies and central functions (IT, Shared Services)

Projects

  • Support ad hoc strategic and finance transformation projects

Experience & Personal Attributes Required

  • Proven FP&A experience within a UK plc or complex organisation
  • Strong understanding of planning, forecasting, performance management, and cash flow
  • Advanced financial modelling capability
  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experience with modern FP&A systems and analytics tools (Cognos preferred)
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • High levels of integrity and professional scepticism
  • Clear, confident communicator with strong stakeholder presence
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
  • Resilient under pressure and able to manage ambiguity
  • Collaborative leader with coaching and development capability
  • Strong attention to detail and naturally inquisitive mindset
