Eaton Syalon is exclusively partnering with a growing and forward-thinking investor backed Derby based organisation looking to add a commercially focused Finance Analyst to join its finance team and support the continued development of financial reporting, analysis, and process improvement across the business.

This Financial Analyst role is a newly created position with a strong focus on financial reporting, business performance analysis, and management accounts offering the opportunity to shape and evolve the role over time. The successful candidate will support the Financial Controller in delivering accurate and timely monthly management reporting, analysing financial performance, and ensuring data integrity across the finance team.

A key aspect of the role involves responding to data requests from a wide range of stakeholders, requiring the ability to interpret complex financial information and present clear, actionable insights. As this is a new role, responsibilities are expected to develop alongside business needs, providing scope for the individual to add value, improve processes, and broaden their impact across the finance function. Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and effective communication skills will be essential in bridging finance with the wider business.

The company is particularly keen to attract an Excel “super-user” who can help review existing reports, improve reporting functionality, enhance processes, and make financial information more insightful and user-friendly for stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Analyse financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to support decision-making
  • Build and maintain financial models and reports
  • Ensure data accuracy across financial systems and reporting processes
  • Support the Financial Controller with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Support the Finance Team in preparing and delivering accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including commentary for the Financial Controller to review and add to reporting documents
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting quality
  • Support the development and documentation of financial controls and procedures
  • Review and improve existing reporting processes and outputs
  • Present financial data and reports clearly to stakeholders across the business

Skills & Experience:

This role would suit a part-qualified ACCA / CIMA / ACA candidate or a finance professional qualified by experience with strong analytical and reporting capability.

You’ll also bring:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present financial data
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, modelling, and reporting analysis
  • Experience preparing or supporting management accounts
  • Good understanding of month-end processes and financial controls
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Strong communication skills with confidence presenting information to various stakeholders
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to improve reporting and processes
  • Previous working knowledge of NetSuite would be helpful but not essential

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to further develop their analytical, reporting, and management accounting skills within a growing business environment.

What’s on Offer?

  • Competitive base salary
  • Optional private healthcare
  • Pension scheme
  • Opportunity to develop and grow within a broad finance role
  • Exposure to systems and reporting improvement projects
  • A collaborative environment where you can genuinely influence reporting and processes
