The Eaton Aerospace Group Mission Systems Division (MSD) has an opening for a Senior Engineering Manager who will lead the Modeling and Simulation team for the division. The Senior Engineering Manager reports to the MSD Engineering Director and is responsible for leading global engineering activities for modeling and simulation development in support of new product development, legacy products, and test equipment. The role also involves system engineering development or tools and processes related to model‑based engineering (MBE) and model‑based systems engineering (MBSE).

  • Lead a global team of approximately 50 highly professional and technical engineering staff to provide detailed analysis support for performance modelling, FEA, thermal, CFD, and other related analysis in support of new product development, iR&D, and product support teams across MSD.
  • Lead the development of tools and processes and provide mentoring and guidance to the engineering organization on program execution through the use of MBE and MBSE.
  • Organise and build talent within the engineering organization, create opportunities for growth and development, and provide functional leadership for engineering managers and teams.
  • Ensure efforts to improve the efficiency of the Engineering functions are emphasized through creative organisational management, effective use of engineering tools, appropriate training and continuous improvement.
  • Drive consistency and best practices across the organization with respect to product documentation, design standards, and related material specifications, achieving global efficiency and an enhanced corporate image.
  • Assure that product designs are competitive on a global basis with respect to quality, reliability and cost.
  • Work with Aerospace Group level and corporate level Centers of Excellence for a seamless product development, execution process and organisational capability development.
  • Use best practices of robust design (Design for Six Sigma, DFSS) and promote an “analysis first” mindset.
  • Establish digital processes and experience within the engineering team aligned to the Aerospace Group strategy, including MBD and MBSE.
  • Ensure proprietary rights and product liability concerns of Aerospace Group are addressed through interaction with corporate legal staff.
  • Establish a global engineering strategy and implement tactical measures to ensure implementation is realized.
  • Lead the team efforts supporting the continued growth and productivity of the Pune, India engineering center.
  • Identify key engineering metrics, monitor performance and implement improvements accordingly.
  • Maintain close liaison with the Operational Excellence organization to ensure high quality and year‑over‑year manufacturing cost reductions.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with universities to develop advanced products and potential new hires.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
  • 10 years of experience within aerospace or a high‑tech industry with new product development and sustaining support.
  • Advanced engineering degree or MBA preferred.
  • 15 years of experience within the aerospace industry including experience in one or more specialised analysis disciplines (FEA, CFD, Thermal, Performance).
  • 8 years of experience leading or managing people (direct or indirect).

Skills:

  • Experience in conducting competitive analyses and defining/executing business‑level strategy.
  • Familiarity with Aerospace industry processes and standards is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Aerospace AAR, Actuation, or Environmental systems and products is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, experience with design processes, portfolio and programme management skills, knowledge of customer strategies, successful new product introduction experience, creative and innovative thinking.
  • Proven track record of driving change and ability to develop and execute technology development plans.
  • Experience in MBSE tools, processes and programme execution.
  • Experience in leading or managing a global team.
  • Key role in an aerospace‑related professional organization.
  • DFSS Greenbelt Certification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization within a global virtual engineering organisation.
  • Ability to network divisional resources.
  • Develop productive working relationships with functions and organisations outside of Engineering.
  • Develop working relationships within the Aerospace engineering community.
  • Develop working relationships with customers.

Up to 40% travel may be required. The successful applicant will be in contact with U.S. ITAR‑controlled technology, goods, and information.
