Overview
In this role you will lead the introduction of Sub-Contract operations within existing manufacturing processes and support transitions buying as products shift to new suppliers. You will partner with operations, supply chain, design engineering, and quality to ensure smooth process transitions that meet programme timelines and performance goals. The position sits in a site transforming toward a Centre of Excellence for aerospace manufacturing, offering exposure to high‑precision fuel systems and cross‑functional collaboration. Responsibilities
- Define production/sub-con process flow and routings
- Support supply chain with technical queries for permits/concessions/design updates
- Partner with Goods Receiving and Stores via MRB meetings
- Evaluate and execute stock salvage
- Generate rework process routings driven by delivery requirements
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications for aerospace components and assemblies
- Highlight and review tooling, fixturing and equipment suitable for suppliers
- Support MRB process and salvage of non-conforming supplied product
- Assist suppliers with root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D, 5 Why, DMAIC)
- Specify and validate live permits, concessions, SOPs and specifications to meet drawings
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with AS9100, NADCAP, internal specs
- Support FAIR activities and production readiness reviews
- Coordinate with supply chain and suppliers to ensure manufacturability and process capability
- Handover from in-house manufacture to sub-contract supply ensuring timely delivery
- Collaborate with Quality to handle non-conforming product and MRB workflows
- Work with Design Engineering and Manufacturing to resolve design‑intent conflicts
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering
- Experience in aerospace or a similarly regulated mechanical manufacturing environment
