An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Inspector to join our Sutton site. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for quality inspection and product acceptance activities within the Junction Box department.
The Quality Inspector will ensure products are manufactured, inspected and tested in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, company procedures and applicable regulatory standards. Acting as the final quality gate prior to shipment, the role is responsible for the verification, acceptance and release of products, ensuring that only conforming products are delivered to customers.
The role will report directly to the departmental lead for day-to-day activities and work prioritisation, whilst receiving functional guidance, support and oversight from the Quality Team to ensure compliance with quality standards, procedures and regulatory requirements. Whilst the primary focus will be the Junction Box department, the role will also provide inspection support across other manufacturing areas as required to meet business needs.
Qualifications- Inspection & Product Acceptance
- Carry out in-process and final inspection activities on products and assemblies.
- Verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, work instructions, customer requirements and applicable standards.
- Perform visual, dimensional and functional inspections and testing as required.
- Review manufacturing and quality records to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure products comply with applicable certification requirements, including ATEX and IECEx where applicable.
- Authorise the final acceptance and release of products in accordance with company procedures and quality requirements.
- Non-Conformance Management
- Identify, segregate and report non-conforming products and processes.
- Raise and support Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with investigations into quality issues, identifying root causes and supporting corrective actions.
- Verify the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions where required.
- Essential
- Previous experience in a Quality Inspector, Inspection or Quality Assurance role within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturing documentation.
- Experience using inspection and measurement equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection activities.
- Ability to make objective product acceptance decisions based on evidence, specifications and requirements.
- Desirable
- Experience within electrical, electro‑mechanical or hazardous area equipment manufacturing.
- Knowledge of ATEX and IECEx certified products and associated requirements.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Experience of non‑conformance management and corrective action processes.
- Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems.
