Overview

As an NPI Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer at Eaton’s Aerospace arm in Titchfield, you lead the industrialisation of new products from concept to production readiness. You collaborate with design, operations, supply chain and quality to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness and compliance with aerospace standards. You’ll drive early design influence, process validation and robust tooling solutions. This role offers shaping fresh products for a high‑stakes, regulated environment and cross-functional impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end NPI activities using gated frameworks (MRL, PPAP, AS9145, ProLaunch)
  • Develop and execute manufacturing plans, readiness reviews, and standard operating procedures
  • Drive DFMEA/PFMEA reviews with engineering for manufacturability and robustness
  • Define production process flow, routings, and tooling/fixturing requirements
  • Support prototype builds, engineering trials, and qualification runs
  • Create additive tooling and Poka Yoke fixturing using CAD models
  • Develop detailed work instructions, standard work, and build documentation
  • Perform tolerance analysis, process capability studies, and risk assessments
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and cost reduction
  • Specify/validate manufacturing equipment, gauges, and special processes
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D, 5 Why, DMAIC)
  • Ensure processes comply with AS9100, NADCAP, internal specs
  • Support qualification testing, certification activities, and production readiness reviews
  • Collaborate with design, supply chain, and operations to ensure smooth handover

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering (preferred)
  • Experience in aerospace or similarly regulated mechanical manufacturing
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration
  • Proactive problem solving and analytical thinking
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • NPI project experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes: assembly/integration, fuel systems, special processes (heat treatment, surface finishing, part marking)
  • Experience with automation, digital manufacturing, or Industry 4.0 (e.g. AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS)
