The Senior Engineer – Design will be responsible for the product design activities for aircraft fuel and inerting system components. The role will deliver the product design activities for a wide range of aircraft pumps, valves and actuator products spanning the complete product lifecycle from concept development, detailed design, development, verification and qualification through to post‑design support.
Producing models and detailed manufacturing drawings using CREO 3D CAD package is preferred; experience with mechanical and electro‑mechanical product design is essential.
- Generate designs of aircraft fuel system products to meet customer requirements using 3D CAD (CREO).
- Complete tolerance lineups, detailed drawings, DFMEAs, Engineering Change Requests, customer approval paperwork and other design‑related activities.
- Participate in DFMA activities.
- Investigate non‑conformance requests, provide general technical support, manage obsolescence, and provide robust technical justifications for decisions.
- Drive to meet turnaround time goals and commitment dates for closure of engineering activities.
- Review and provide clear documentation (marked‑up prints) of changes required to drawings to address manufacturing/supplier issues such as obsolescence, manufacturing easement, cost reduction, and component definition.
- Support the process of creating customer approval paperwork where required, to gain approval for permanent design changes.
- Provide technical authority to sign off non‑conformance requests and detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Design approval for in‑service and cost‑out projects where required.
- Present designs at preliminary, critical, and detailed design reviews, both internal and customer.
- Present and attend assessments of non‑conformance requests and drawing change applications at material and change review boards.
The successful candidate will have excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills enabling them to execute their activities to quality, cost, and time commitments. Previous experience in a safety‑critical arena such as aerospace, automotive, rail, or nuclear industry would be advantageous, although applicants from other high‑technology engineering backgrounds will be considered.
Qualifications:
- Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- At least four to seven years of engineering experience in a relevant professional engineering environment, ideally gained in the aerospace or equivalent high‑technology industry.
- Electro/Mechanical Engineering, ideally of aircraft fuel system products.
- Knowledge of encapsulation products used on electrical/electronic components would be useful.

- Proven CREO experience at producing detailed manufacturing drawings.
