The Production Scheduler is responsible for creating, sequencing, and executing the rolling 4 week detailed production schedule to ensure alignment with the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and customer priorities. This role focuses on short term planning, work order readiness, past due recovery, and execution performance. The Production Scheduler works closely with Operations, Materials, Stores, Quality, and the Network Scheduler to maintain schedule adherence, data accuracy, and smooth flow of production activities.

Short Term Production Scheduling & Execution

  • Create and manage the 1-2-week finite production schedule based on demand priorities, material availability, and inventory targets.
  • Adhere to and align all schedules to the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
  • Release work orders that are “Clear to Release,” ensuring material and documentation readiness.
  • When constraints occur, re-sequence or re-route work orders to minimise deviation from MPS.
  • Monitor and manage WIFOL (Work in Front of Line) to prevent bottlenecks and ensure flow.
  • Review and re-schedule past due and due work orders daily (WOOTD).
  • Determine and communicate required labor and workstation loading to support the execution of the plan.

Past Due, Recovery & Escalation Management

  • Mitigate past due orders through expediting, reprioritisation, and short-term adjustments.
  • Responsible for planning recovery activities for production-related delays and ensure proactive communication to stakeholders.
  • Escalate execution issues to the Network Scheduler when resolution cannot occur within the MPS time constraints.
  • Attend daily/weekly Assembly & Test (A&T) Tier 2 meetings to report on adherence, risks, and required actions.

Work Order, WIP & Material Coordination

  • Reconcile WIP that is short on components and coordinate resolution with Stores, Procurement, and Quality.
  • Transact suspect or non-conforming materials from work orders into MRB (Material Review Board).
  • Attend Stores MRB meetings to support timely disposition and material flow decisions.
  • Review Line of Balance (LOB) to ensure accurate visibility of production progress.
  • Reconcile “Completed but Not Closed” work orders to support financial and inventory accuracy.

Performance Tracking & Schedule Adherence

  • Create and review schedule adherence metrics, driving improvement actions with Operations.
  • Monitor production execution against daily/weekly expectations and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Support Production Ops Review meetings with clear updates on risks, deviations, and recovery actions.

Data Accuracy, ERP Health & Master Data Governance

  • Maintain ERP data integrity, including planning parameters, routing times, lead time settings, and work centre structures.
  • Ensure that in-house manufacturing lead times accurately reflect operational capability.
  • Identify and correct transactional errors to maintain clean planning and execution signals.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Materials functions to maintain BOM accuracy, component alignment, and part availability.

Qualifications

  • Experience in production control, scheduling, or shop floor coordination.
  • Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems and production workflows.
  • Ability to manage constraints, adjust schedules rapidly, and collaborate across functions.
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
