Contract type
Permanent, 40 hours, 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis. Flexibility to work weekends, bank holidays and occasional night shifts for planned maintenance and project work.
We are looking for a proactive, hands-on
Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day maintenance of our busy London store.
This is not an office-based role.
You'll spend the majority of your time on the shop floor carrying out repairs, responding to maintenance requests and ensuring our building, equipment and facilities remain safe, compliant and fully operational.
You'll work closely with department managers, external contractors and the Senior Retail Manager to deliver planned preventative maintenance whilst responding quickly to reactive issues.
Due to the nature of the business, flexibility is essential and the role includes evenings, weekends and occasional night work.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out day-to-day repairs and general maintenance across the store.
- Take a hands-on approach to maintaining the building, kitchen equipment, bar equipment, refrigeration and all store facilities.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise equipment failures.
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs wherever possible.
- Coordinate and liaise with external contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Build strong working relationships with the building management team, contractors and local authorities where required.
- Prioritise maintenance requests based on business needs and operational impact.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and planned maintenance schedules.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with Health & Safety legislation and company standards.
- Support fire safety procedures, emergency response and statutory compliance checks.
- Monitor the condition of all equipment and recommend repairs or replacement where appropriate.
- Work closely with department managers to minimise disruption to trading.
- Assist with store projects, refurbishments and installations.
- Support waste management and sustainability initiatives where required.
- Provide guidance and support to the Maintenance Associate.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a maintenance role within hospitality, retail or another commercial environment.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
- Confident liaising with contractors and external suppliers.
- Good communication and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Electrical qualifications or experience.
- Plumbing qualifications or experience.
- Carpentry experience.
- Experience working with HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- IOSH, Fire Marshal, First Aid, PASMA or IPAF qualifications.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift and move equipment where required.
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending and working on your feet throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working in kitchen, retail and back-of-house environments.
