We are looking for a Head of Procurement to build and lead an exceptional Procurement Function at PROPER SNACKS. Responsible for around £65m spend across ingredients, packaging, and indirects, the opportunity to positively impact the future of our business in this role is huge. We need a tenacious Head of Procurement to get great‐tasting snacks into peoples' hands and help us go after our mission to reinvent snacking as an act of positive wellbeing.
This person will be a passionate Procurement specialist with a strong background in FMCG and a deep understanding of procurement best practice, market dynamics, and supplier management. You will be an exceptional negotiator, with a track record of building strong, strategic relationships that consistently deliver results – both internally and externally. You will be a highly analytical and numerate leader with an ability to work at pace, whilst communicating and collaborating confidently with a wide range of stakeholders.
This role is responsible for overseeing and executing all procurement activities for direct and indirect categories at PROPER SNACKS. By collaborating with functions across the business and developing supplier relationships, the Procurement team will ensure timely availability of high‐quality materials and services at competitive prices, creating added value that enables the business to deliver its ambitious growth and sustainability agendas. Delivering targeted cost savings and improvements in payment terms will be key parts of the role. This is a hybrid role with 3 days required in office, between London and Nuneaton (1hr train from Euston).
Responsibilities- Build, lead and develop a high‐performing Procurement team that's integral to PROPER and a true business partner in the organisation.
- Evolve and execute the Procurement strategy to ensure the timely availability of high‐quality goods and materials while optimising costs.
- Manage supply risks with the Supply Chain team to ensure consistent high service levels and reduce potential impact on business growth and brand reputation.
- Employ a robust supplier appraisal system incorporating the business needs for innovation, sustainability, and risk management.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on their ability to meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Negotiate and manage contracts and SLAs with suppliers to achieve strong and competitive agreements for PROPER.
- Drive supplier performance by establishing targets and conducting regular supplier evaluations.
- Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and industry dynamics to proactively identify risks and opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and ensure alignment with innovation priorities and projects and support production schedules.
- Influence at a senior management level to ensure procurement thinking remains central to business priorities.
- Continuously improve procurement processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Extensive sourcing and procurement experience, across indirect & direct categories, in an FMCG organisation.
- Proven leadership in a large‐scale FMCG / food manufacturing environment.
- Expert negotiation skills.
- Proven experience developing and sustaining senior supplier and stakeholder relationships.
- MCIPS and/or equivalent business qualifications.
