The role involves seeking an experienced and talented Head of Finance and Risk with strong financial acumen, and the ability to translate complex themes into clear narratives, to contribute significantly to the strategic direction of the organisation. The successful candidate will manage the organisation's finances, developing and maintaining financial models to support strategic decision-making, and providing high-quality financial data and analysis to senior management, along with having oversight across their internal risk processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Financial Management: Co-ordinate and drive the Budget process, monthly re-forecasting and reporting, analysis and planning to support decision making, preparing financial papers for the Risk and Audit committee and the Board of Trustees, and providing input to funding applications.
- Financial Control and Risk Oversight: Maintaining control of financial systems, ensuring accuracy of transactions, overseeing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, VAT, expenses, payroll process, and organisational risk management.
- Financial Reporting and Cashflow Forecasting: Overseeing the annual audit, statutory reporting, liaising with auditors, and identifying changes in performance.
- Treasury: Managing the organisation's investment strategy, maintaining key controls of third-party banking software, and providing cashflow forecasts.
The Head of Finance and Risk has one direct report, the Finance Manager, and the Finance Officer reports to the Finance Manager. The role also involves engaging in regular organisational wide meetings and maintaining key professional administrative relationships.
Ideal candidates should demonstrate the ability to effectively lead a small finance team, possess project management skills, strong administrative and computer literacy skills, hold a CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualification or equivalent, and have extensive knowledge of financial procedures, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
