As Assistant Accountant, you’ll support the Flight Operations Accounting & Controls team by helping to deliver accurate financial reporting, strong controls and valuable insight for stakeholders across the business. A key focus of the role will be checking, analysing and processing invoices through the SkyMetrix system, investigating variances and supporting month‑end accounting activities. You’ll also work closely with Procurement, suppliers and finance colleagues to improve processes, reclaim costs and support operational and financial decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Checking, analysing and processing invoices, liaising with internal and external stakeholders where required
  • Investigating variances between invoices and accruals
  • Ensuring postings adhere to accounting standards and internal controls
  • Supporting process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Building effective cross‑functional relationships across the business

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience working within finance, accounting or controls environments
  • Enjoy analysing data, investigating variances and solving problems
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities to deadlines
  • Confidence building relationships with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • Confidence working independently and collaboratively
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience with SkyMetrix or AirPas is essential
