The ITSO (IT Services and Airline Operations) organisation manages and is accountable for the rapid delivery of the trustworthy, scalable, and efficient IT infrastructure services needed to support the technology critical for easyJet’s future growth plans and ambitions. I&O Platforms are part of the ITSO organisation and form the backbone of easyJet's technology capabilities. They underpin nearly everything we do at easyJet - from providing transparency on the state of our technology services to ensuring efficient and secure hosting of our data. Effective I&O Platforms are critical to enabling our future growth aspirations and our ambition to become Europe's most loved airline.
I&O Platforms consist of:
- Observability Platform – monitor end-to-end IT infrastructure, network, and application services.
- Hosting Platform – provide application teams with cloud based technology environments (server, serverless, database, content delivery etc.) required to build and run IT solutions.
- Connectivity Platform – connect devices to our IT services and to the internet.
- Identity and Access Management (IDAM) Platform – provide employees with simple and secured access to IT services.
- IT Common Tools Platform – provide IT leaders and teams tools to work efficiently (development and testing environments, etc.).
Each Platform is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of business outcomes and the Platform teams are expected to demonstrate a proactive work mindset in addressing easyJet’s priorities. Over the next 2-3 years, Platforms will evolve significantly, along with the evolution of technology capabilities and business needs (Dev(Sec)Ops, AIOps, etc.).
The Platform Engineering Specialist is contributing to the seamless delivery of all IT services for their Platform. This role designs, builds, tests and scales services within a specific I&O Platform. It is heavily involved in design and implementation activities that result in new or improved I&O capabilities, and it brings skills and expertise to such areas as automating tasks (cloud, network, etc.), provisioning and configuration management; and other aspects involved in preparing and optimising I&O solutions. The Platform Engineering Specialist collaborates closely with Architects (Technical, Solution, Cyber Security and Enterprise), product/platform teams, security, and network specialists, as well as other roles, particularly those in the infrastructure and operations. Being an approachable team-player is therefore crucial for success. The Platform Engineer is expected to demonstrate strong attention to detail and a customer-centric mindset. The role is fundamental for ensuring stable, performant, and secure I&O Platforms which form easyJet’s technological backbone.
The Platform Engineering Specialist is working within the I&O Platforms team and is assigned to the Hosting Platform. The role reports to the Head of IDAM and Hosting. The Platform Engineering Specialist is responsible for different areas within their assigned Platform, as specified below:
