Overview
In this Lead Architect role within Airline Operations, you shape the target architecture and guardrails that guide technology across crew, airports, flight operations or engineering. You partner with senior leaders to align architectural direction with enterprise goals while enabling teams to move decisively. You will drive migration to shared platform services and anticipate future requirements, including AI and automation. Responsibilities
- Provide architectural direction within the Mission scope and escalate cross-domain impacts
- Define standards and guardrails to enable consistent development across teams
- Establish design patterns, constraints, and principles for product teams
- Facilitate architecture reviews and align designs with strategic direction
- Assess and support deviations from agreed standards
- Identify and drive migration of capabilities to shared Airline Operations Platform services
- Identify emerging technology trends and ensure readiness (AI, automation, platform evolution)
Key requirements
- Experience with senior leadership, architecture communities, and product delivery teams
- Strong stakeholder management and influence beyond direct authority
- Ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Balance strategic thinking with practical delivery and trade-offs
- Familiarity with observability platforms, telemetry, event streaming, and modern data architectures
- Knowledge of automation frameworks, digital operations platforms, and emerging tech trends
- Experience with cloud-native architectures and platform engineering
- Understanding of identity federation and third-party access management
- Experience implementing AI-enabled operational capabilities or predictive analytics
- TOGAF, ArchiMate, or equivalent architecture certification
- Experience operating within product-centric technology organisations
