The Team:

You’ll be part of the Engineering Safety team, reporting into the Engineering Training & Safety Manager. The team sits at the heart of Engineering and Maintenance, owning the Safety Management System across CAMO, Part-145 and Part-21. It’s a highly collaborative group that works closely with operational teams and the wider airline to identify risks, investigate events and embed a strong, proactive safety culture.

The Role:

As a Safety Engineer, you’ll gain broad exposure across Engineering and Maintenance. You’ll have oversight of safety reports, manage risks centrally and play an active role in investigations that help keep our fleet and people safe. You’ll also travel occasionally to maintenance locations and work directly with key stakeholders across the business.

What you’ll be doing includes:

  • Managing safety reports, MORs and investigations across CAMO and Part-145
  • Carrying out root cause analysis in line with regulatory and internal requirements
  • Owning and maintaining risk registers and supporting SMS implementation
  • Preparing safety data and presentations for forums and leadership teams
  • Coordinating safety bulletins and supporting digital and data-led improvements
  • Conducting safety reviews at insourced and outsourced maintenance providers
  • Supporting change management to ensure operational readiness
  • Promoting a positive and active safety culture across Engineering
  • Deputising for the Engineering and Maintenance Safety Manager when needed
  • Supporting safety projects aligned to our safety objectives
  • Facilitating new starter safety training and helping improve team processes

What we’re looking for:

  • Curious, collaborative and confident working in a fast-moving operational environment
  • Knowledge of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices
  • Understanding of human factors and management systems
  • A relevant engineering or technical degree, or an aircraft technician or maintenance engineer qualification
  • Knowledge of maintenance operations and the aircraft maintenance industry
  • Awareness of Part-CAMO, Part-145 and Part-21 regulations
  • Familiarity with A320 family aircraft
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence working with stakeholders at all levels
  • Solid organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and willingness to travel

This full-time role will be based in Luton and will be 40 hours per week. We support hybrid working and we spend 60% of our time per month in the office. This is a 12-month Fixed term contract.
