Overview
Pilot Support Manager – Newcastle (16288). We are looking for a Pilot Support Manager with a strong HR background to support our Pilots in Newcastle. This role requires an individual who excels in people management and has a proven track record of developing positive, high-performance cultures. You will collaborate with the Base Captain to implement the Flight Operations engagement plan, drive operational performance, recognising exceptional contributions from pilots, and promoting recognition across the entire base community. Your leadership should be visible, proactive, and rooted in inclusive behaviours.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing pilot performance in areas such as conduct, absence, return to work, disciplinary processes, and grievance management.
- Collaborate with the Base Captain to implement the Flight Operations engagement plan, recognising exceptional contributions from pilots, and promoting recognition across the entire base community.
- Engage with local industrial bodies and works councils; ensure innovative and effective communication to pilots.
- Support the safety and well-being of pilots by contributing to Health and Safety standards and collaborating with the Safety and FRMS team to manage fatigue levels.
- Manage relationships with third-party suppliers and ensure operational effectiveness at the base, with a focus on HR and people-centric goals.
Requirements
- Strong HR background in regulated environments with experience in people management and performance in fast-paced settings.
- Ability to prioritise, demonstrate resilience, and drive employee engagement.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel).
- Experience delivering performance through KPIs, especially in employee engagement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident in face-to-face interactions.
- Experience with HR policies and unionised environments, including interactions with union members.
- Passion for performance and supporting pilots.

Location & Hours of Work
This is a full-time, office-based role at Newcastle Airport, working 40 hours per week. The schedule is 5 days out of 7, which may include weekends and evenings. While the role is non-flying, it may occasionally involve business travel.
