Job Description - Technical Specialist – Baggage Operations (17110)

Role Overview

As a Technical Specialist – Baggage Operations, you will drive the resilience, scalability, and technical evolution of critical systems that impact millions of passengers.

In this role, you will design, configure, and evolve technologies spanning Self‑Service Bag Drop (SBD), real‑time tracking, reconciliation compliance, and multi‑supplier integrations.

Over the next 2–3 years, you will champion major network expansions, transition fragmented tech into standardised models, and pioneer next‑generation telemetry and observability across our airport estate.

  • Design Technical Solutions: Translate operational requirements into scalable, resilient baggage technology solutions.
  • System Integration: Merge third‑party baggage systems into a cohesive, highly observable enterprise network.
  • Embed Observability: Ensure monitoring, logging, and proactive alerting are built into every solution by design.
  • Lifecycle Planning: Manage tech upgrades, decommissioning, and standardisation across multiple airports.
  • Release Engineering & Maintenance
  • Drive Standardisation: Define repeatable operational configurations, tooling, and orchestration mechanisms across the estate.
