THE TEAM

Reporting to the Director of FP&A, you’ll be a key member of the Core Finance Leadership team. You will lead our Edge Programme (cost reduction, revenue initiative tracking, and working capital improvement) and provide finance business partnering to People, Data & Technology, and e‑Commerce. You will lead a team of 10 with 4 direct reports across e‑Commerce, Tech & Data (5), Central Overheads/People (3), and Cost Transformation/Edge (2), working closely with the CFO, Chief Customer Officer, Chief People Officer and Chief Information Officer and their leadership teams.

THE ROLE

  • Take end-to-end financial management, partnering and accounting responsibility for approximately £500m of overheads and over £100m capex, ensuring robust budgets, forecasts and in-year prioritisation.
  • Lead the Edge Programme to deliver our strategic cost goals and support our mid-term profit ambition, generating and executing initiatives across the full cost base while tracking revenue initiatives and driving working capital improvement.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership and governance across the Data, Digital, Technology and e‑Commerce investment portfolios, ensuring strong capital allocation, transparent CAPEX/OPEX reporting, and benefits realisation.
  • Partner with the Portfolio Management Office and Technology leadership to standardise financial processes, strengthen investment appraisals and challenge business cases, delivery plans and assumptions.
  • Operate as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders, acting as a sounding board and ensuring AMB and PLC reporting is clear, timely and decision-focused.
  • Build insight on industry trends and efficiency opportunities, engaging with internal and external experts to shape best‑in‑class practice and sustainable change.
  • Drive a company‑wide low‑cost culture through clear storytelling and engagement, connecting people to their role in performance delivery.
  • Oversee governance, integrity of analysis and accuracy of insight across partnered areas, from early planning through to board-level outputs and performance interventions.
  • Lead accounting, control and reporting activities for central overheads and Data & Technology, including ownership of balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close (with accounting tasks targeted to transition to Group Accounting in the next 12 months).
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering subject matter expertise, impactful analysis, and cross‑functional collaboration.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Significant experience in finance or investment roles within complex, technology-driven environments, with strength in FP&A and capital governance.
  • Deep understanding of digital transformation, agile delivery and technology operating models, including exposure to cloud and SaaS economics and agile-based investment cases.
  • Proven track record of cost and value optimisation, with the confidence to challenge and influence senior delivery teams constructively.
  • Expertise in portfolio management disciplines, benefits tracking, business case development and reporting tools (e.g. ThoughtSpot, Power BI).
  • Qualified finance professional (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or equivalent experience, with strong P&L, balance sheet and cash flow understanding.
  • Experience in regulated or asset-heavy industries; aviation experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong business strategy and operations knowledge, with excellent project leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Inclusive, people-first leadership style with a track record of building high-performing teams and driving change through influence.
  • Proactive, commercially minded self-starter who brings solutions, operates with gravitas and navigates a European, multi-unit organisation with ease.

PRACTICALITIES

This full-time role will be based in Luton and will be 40 hours per week. We support hybrid working and we spend 60% of our time per month in the office.
