We are seeking a reliable and hands-on IT Technician to join our team. This role involves hardware preparation, repair, dismantling, component removal, basic server and network support, and general technical assistance. The ideal candidate will be practical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple technical and operational tasks. This is a varied role that combines IT technical work with equipment handling and inventory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing desktop PCs, laptops, and servers for deployment or resale
- Dismantling machines and safely removing components (HDDs, SSDs, RAM, GPUs, etc.)
- Replacing screens, drives, and other faulty components
- Diagnosing hardware faults
- Wiping and securely removing hard drives from servers and PCs
- Refurbishing and testing equipment
- Basic understanding of servers and network switches
- Checking server configurations
- Performing basic configuration tasks (training can be provided if required)
- Removing and installing drives in servers
- Assisting with hardware upgrades and maintenance
- Preparing machines for sale
- Listing items on eBay (including photos and descriptions)
- Keeping accurate inventory records
- Loading/unloading equipment from delivery vans
- Organising and storing IT equipment safely
Requirements
- Proven experience in IT hardware repair and maintenance (preferred)
- Good knowledge of computer components and server hardware
- Basic understanding of switches and server environments
- Ability to safely dismantle and rebuild IT equipment
- Comfortable performing physical tasks (lifting and moving equipment)
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Security Requirement
- Enhanced DBS check required
- Applicants must have no criminal history
- Employment is subject to satisfactory DBS clearance
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with refurbished IT equipment
- Knowledge of data wiping procedures
- Familiarity with Windows Server environments
- Experience listing and selling IT equipment online (eBay or similar platforms)
