We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Assistant with a valid driving licence to provide domiciliary (home) care services to clients in their own homes. The role involves delivering person‑centred care while also providing essential transportation support to help clients maintain their independence and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality personal care and support to clients in their own homes
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support clients with mobility and transfers using appropriate moving and handling techniques
- Administer medications in accordance with care plans and prescribed protocols
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with eating and drinking as required
- Perform light domestic duties, including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe home environment
- Monitor and record clients’ health, well‑being, and any changes in condition
- Report concerns or changes to senior staff and healthcare professionals promptly
- Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce isolation and promote well‑being
- Follow individual care plans and respect clients’ choices, dignity, and independence
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in domiciliary care, home care, or similar care settings
- Valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points
- Own vehicle with appropriate business‑use insurance
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to protecting vulnerable adults
- Ability to work independently and manage your own time effectively
- Physical capability to perform moving and handling tasks safely
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to care
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
- Willingness to travel between clients’ homes within the local area
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
- Experience supporting clients with dementia, learning disabilities, or complex needs
- Moving and handling certification
- First Aid at Work qualification
- Medication administration training
- Experience working with care planning and documentation
