Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care including washing, bathing, dressing, toileting, and continence care
  • Support with mobility, transfers, and use of mobility aids
  • Assist with medication in line with care plans and company policies
  • Prepare meals and support with nutrition and hydration
  • Carry out domestic tasks such as light cleaning, laundry, and shopping
  • Provide emotional support and companionship
  • Follow individual care and support plans accurately
  • Observe, monitor, and report changes in service users’ health or wellbeing
  • Maintain accurate daily records and documentation
  • Promote independence, choice, and dignity at all times
  • Safeguard vulnerable adults and report any concerns immediately
  • Work in accordance with CQC standards, health and safety, and infection control policies
  • Communicate effectively with service users, families, and healthcare professionals

Skills and Experience

  • Essential: Experience working in domiciliary or social care
  • Compassionate, reliable, and respectful approach
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Good communication skills in English (spoken and written)
  • Willingness to travel between service users’ homes
  • Desirable: NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting elderly clients or individuals with disabilities
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Knowledge and Competencies

  • Understanding of person-centred care
  • Knowledge of safeguarding adults
  • Basic understanding of dementia, learning disabilities, or long-term conditions
  • Ability to follow care plans and risk assessments

Working Conditions

  • Community-based role, working in service users’ homes
  • Shift work including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
  • Lone working with support from management and on-call staff
